名詞性從句包括：主語叢句、賓語從句、表語從句和同位語從句。四種名詞性從句的本質是句子分別做五大句型中的主語、賓語、表語、同位語四種成分。具體地說：五大句型中的主語換成一個句子，這個作主語的句子就叫主語從句;五大句型中的賓語換成一個句子，這個作賓語的句子就叫賓語從句;五大句型中的表語換成一個句子，這個作表語的句子就叫表語從句;五大句型中的同位語換成一個句子，這個作同位語的句子就叫同位語從句。
經研究表明，有三種句子可以變名詞性從句，它們是：陳述句，一般疑問句，特殊疑問句，并且陳述句可以推導出一般疑問句，一般疑問句可以推導出特殊疑問句。但是它們三個變名詞性從句的規則卻略有不同：
Ⅰ陳述句分別變主語從句、賓語從句、表語從句和同位語從句。
